Introba provided building engineering, feature lighting, and sustainability design, as well as energy modeling for 150 Holborn in London, UK.

150 Holborn is a 185,000 ft² development comprised of office space, retail and residential units, located in midtown London, with smart-ready IT infrastructure transforming how occupants interact with their built environment. Introba worked closely with the architects at the detailed design stage, providing simulation results in Radiance and IES-VE that the team incorporated into their design thinking.

Due to the shading from surrounding buildings and areas of high solar exposure, the team conducted simulations to calculate the appropriate external shading fin density for every façade orientation and floor level. This modeling ensures lower levels receive good-quality daylight and protects the upper levels from solar gains. The shading strategy was regular and linear, resulting in varied solar exposure across the building. The resultant solution varies with height and orientation and sits seamlessly within the architectural vision.

The central atrium running from the ground floor to the roof is a vital element of the building’s functionality. A feature stairway linking the floors will maximize interaction and collaboration between levels. The top floor will comprise an executive and client suite, the intermediate floors office use, and the ground floor reception, café, meeting, and retail for staff collaboration.

Introba (formerly Elementa Consulting) has been essential in leading design charrettes during the early design phases of the project. During these workshops, the whole project team came together in collaborative, integrated design workshops, allowing the team to set clear communication and aspirations for all stakeholders.
