Introba provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, design analytics, and sustainability consulting for Kaiser Permanente’s Medical Office Building in Santa Rosa, CA, United States.

Introba (formerly Integral Group) provided engineering and consulting services for this new three-story medical office building. The project is the first medical office building to be LEED Zero Energy certified and one of the country’s first LEED Zero Energy certified projects. As anticipated through Introba’s modeling efforts, the photovoltaic (PV) energy produced and captured on-site exceeds the energy used during full occupancy. The building’s all-electric operation signifies it is Net Zero Carbon as well.

Thermodynamically zoned heat pumps saved one million dollars in HVAC construction costs by eliminating large amounts of pipes. Other sustainability measures include electro-chromic glazed glass, photovoltaic panels, building orientation optimization, and water conservation, including landscaping with drought-tolerant native plants watered by weather-based drip irrigation.

Collaboration and pre-fabrication were key in this design-assist delivery. Introba coordinated with the contractor team during the design phase to provide fully-coordinated construction documents, eliminating shop drawings and value-engineering and expediting construction.

The building includes facilities for primary care, including family medicine, health education, gynecology, supporting imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy units.
