South Bank Parklands
Introba provided mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, integrated communication technology, and lighting design for Southbank Parklands in Brisbane, QLD, Australia.
The South Bank Parklands are iconic Queensland with swimming facilities, walking tracks, food and beverage venues, and the home of a year-round calendar of events. The community welcomed the precinct’s rejuvenation, and South Bank Parkland will be a space that locals and visitors will enjoy for many years.
Introba worked with architects Hassell Studio and a local manufacturer on a custom luminaire and designed a complete lighting control matrix and detailing lighting poles with integrated communication technology (ICT) devices. The design team identified the impact of surrounding and ambient city light as a challenge. By conducting midnight lighting tests, Introba mitigated unsuitable lighting selection early in the design phases.
South Bank Parklands is a popular event space, and service use fluctuates. The client set forth a challenge to design services and lighting that were easily accessible during events but had a seamless appearance when not used. The project team ensured a quality installation by incorporating LED strip lighting and stainless-steel enclosures into the design and focusing heavily on future provision for power and communication in every lighting pole.
