Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Helicon Building

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is the world’s largest professional body of management accountants, with its UK office headquarters located in Central London.

As their existing office space spanned multiple floors, CIMA required a larger single-floor plate office to improve their current workspace and cater to projected growth.

Introba (formerly Elementa Consulting) was appointed as mechanical, electrical, and public health consultants for the 23,000ft² fitout, which demanded an immense amount of coordination between the whole design team to complete the project within the requested time frame and ensure CIMA was able to relocate on planned dates.

Due to the lease that CIMA had agreed on at the Helicon building, an area was marked out for potential hand back to the landlord after five years. Therefore, Introba had to ensure that services, where practical, could be reconfigured.

CIMA desired the reception area to be used as a ‘Town Hall’ event space, which presented a challenge for Introba as the fresh air supply from the base build provision was insignificant for this use. Working closely with CIMA and building control, Introba overcame the issue by establishing the maximum number of occupants for the space and required fresh air rates.

The project was completed on time, and CIMA has seamlessly relocated into its new office and embraced its new environment. The flexible meeting spaces and multiple touchdown areas have changed how people interact and work within the new space.
