Revolutionizing Outpatient Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering

As part of the shift from inpatient to outpatient cancer care, Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) aimed to develop a 772,000 sq ft, 23-story state-of-the-art outpatient facility. The center needed to provide advanced treatments for lung, head and neck, and hematologic cancers while also supporting outpatient bone marrow transplantation, early-phase clinical trials, and cutting-edge radiation oncology and radiology services. To complement its patient-focused design, MSK sought to implement an integrated technology infrastructure, including innovative patient engagement systems, to enhance care delivery and optimize patient experiences.

Introba served as MSK’s IT Consultant, acting as an extension of the facility and IT groups to deliver comprehensive program and project management for technology systems and equipment. Our contributions included:

  • Developing requirements, designs, and written specifications for critical systems, including nurse call, RFID, RTLS, DAS, and FRS, along with the interfaces and integration for IPI devices.
  • Managing the bid process to ensure seamless deployment of advanced technology solutions.
  • Creating integration specifications for an Integrated Patient Tablet Solution that allows patients to control lights, room temperature, TV stations, nurse calls, and food orders directly from their bedside tablets.

Our role went beyond traditional IT consulting to deliver a transformative patient experience. By designing and integrating technology that empowers patients and enhances operational efficiency, we supported MSK's vision for a patient-centric facility. The tablet-based solution exemplifies our commitment to leveraging technology for improved comfort, convenience, and care. The David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care is now a benchmark for outpatient cancer care, blending innovative treatments, clinical research, and advanced patient engagement systems in a world-class facility.
