Heinemann Retail Development | Sydney Airport

The Heinemann retail development at Sydney Airport involves consolidating around ten retail spaces into one large Heinemann specialist offering. This is the first time Heinemann has introduced their retail experience into the domestic aviation market, revolutionizing the airport retail experience for travelers.

We designed the building services to be sympathetic to the architecture, arranging systems to allow the ceilings to be as high as possible. In the cases of tenancies with low ceilings, we changed ductwork strategies to overcome the height issues, integrated services into bulkheads, and concealed systems within signage units.

One of the biggest challenges was designing base building upgrades to suit tenancy requirements while minimizing the tenant's cost. Consolidating multiple tenancies created unique challenges for the design team coordinating HVAC, power, and comms networks throughout the new retail concept. The project team delivered a staged program with various temporary provisions and considerations to get Heinemann trading as quickly as possible while finalizing back-of-house works.
