Police helicopter hovering over water

Introba designed the mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire protection and fire engineering services for the new PolAir facility at Bankstown Airport.

The PolAir development is a new facility at Bankstown Airport for the NSW Police Aviation Support Branch (PolAir). The new helicopter facility also houses offices, accommodations, hangars, and maintenance spaces.

Introba overcame technical challenges in achieving temperature control in maintenance bays, designing complex fire service requirements for the hangar area, and preventing the ingress of aviation fumes in the office areas. We resolved these challenges using in-slab hydronic heating, fire monitors and suppression systems, and local manually operable recirculating HVAC systems.

The project was designed in two stages to minimize the impact on the airport's day-to-day operation. First, the infrastructure and taxi-way realignments were completed, and then the new office, hangar, car park, and landscaping works were completed in the second stage.
