Uptown Kids & Co TI Expansion
Introba's integrated MEP Victoria team provided mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services for this new daycare facility and its subsequent expansion, located at the Uptown Shopping Centre in Victoria, BC.
The project includes approximately 12,000 sq ft of indoor space in addition to a 3,500 sq ft rooftop play area. The mechanical design adapted the landlord's existing water-source heat pump system for heating and cooling and added a VAV-reheat distribution to provide individual temperature control in every care room. This strategy-maintained compatibility with the existing shell system while also eliminating the need for heating elements at low level that would pose a scalding risk to toddlers and children. The mechanical systems also featured a heat recovery ventilator for tightly controlled supply and exhaust air, and specialty plumbing fixtures with thermostatic mixing valves on all hot water outlets.
