San Diego, [February 12, 2024] – Introba proudly announces the promotion of Calina Ferraro to the position of Vice President. Calina's exceptional journey with Introba began in 2019, marking a significant chapter in the company's growth and commitment to innovative, environmentally future-thinking design.
Her professional roots began at McGill University in Montreal, where she graduated with top honors in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. Originally hailing from the Maritimes on the east coast of Canada, Calina's diverse background and global experience have shaped her into a dynamic leader in the field of sustainable design.
Calina's commitment to sustainability is deeply ingrained in her professional journey. She noted a pivotal moment during her education when she took a technical elective on sustainable design by Kevin Hydes (founder of one of the firms that have since become Introba). Kevin inspired her to align her technical expertise with her passion for positive environmental change.
“Kevin’s class on Energy, Environment, and Buildings was all about sustainable design, passive systems, integrated design teams, and LEED – which was still relatively new at the time. By the end of the second class, I decided this would be my career. It satisfies my passion for the environment and wanting to contribute to positive change in our world, my technical interest in getting into the weeds and problem-solving, and my desire to work collaboratively with people from all different backgrounds on “real world” projects,” Calina reflected.
After joining Introba in 2019, Calina spearheaded the opening of the San Diego office. During her tenure with the firm, Calina has been instrumental in leading projects within the education sector, collaborating with esteemed clients in the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems, as well as community colleges and private institutions at both the higher education and K-12 level. Noteworthy projects she has completed recently include the Epstein Family Amphitheater at UC San Diego and a new classroom building at Santa Fe Christian School.
Calina says on her plans in her new role as an education sector leader, “I look forward to working closely with our local teams throughout the US to grow our reach and further develop our relationships with campuses. I see a tremendous opportunity for Introba in the education sector to continue pushing the envelope for sustainability to create learning environments that benefit both our planet and the wellbeing of the people who engage in these spaces.”
Beyond her outstanding professional achievements, Calina is known for her passion for the great outdoors. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, she embarked on a remarkable 16,000-mile journey across the US and Canada in 2019, showcasing her love for exploration and adventure. Her dedication to sustainable living extends to her personal pursuits, including hiking, camping, and backpacking.
Calina's promotion to Vice President is a testament to her outstanding leadership, innovative thinking, and dedication to sustainable design. As she steps into this new role, she will grow Introba’s education market sector work and continue fostering collaboration and technical excellence within our teams across the business.
“Calina’s incredible track record as a leader in sustainability and technical leadership, matched with her breadth of experience with our top education sector clients, has made her a perfect fit for this role. I am excited to support her in this new chapter of her career and looking forward to seeing her continue to succeed as a leader in our firm.” Karl Miller, Senior Vice President.
