Jewish Community Centre
The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) is planning to redevelop its aging facilities into an ambitious and innovative new campus on the current 3.3 acre site of the existing JCC.
The JCC has deep and longstanding roots in the corner of West 41st Avenue and Oak Street in the Oakridge neighborhood and is at the heart of the Jewish Community in Greater Vancouver. This multi-phase new development seeks to replace the Community Centre facilities and will also provide affordable housing and mixed-use infrastructure to maintain the community that will use the JCC for generations to come.
The infrastructure is anticipated to include a 9-story, 121 ft high community center replacement with recreational space, pools, gyms, cultural art spaces with auditorium and theatre, non-profit office space and retail at ground level. It will also house an early-education daycare center, with 104 spots available for private daycare.
In the future phase 2, the existing Louis Brier Home and Hospital Seniors Care Facility will be relocated and redeveloped to include 266 beds for senior assisted living and care within a 13-story building. Additionally, a new 24-story building will offer 160 affordable market units to the Oakridge community, enough space to accommodate 400 residents. In efforts to embrace green and sustainable living, JCC will incorporate abundant green space and communal areas with green roofs, rainwater management systems, solar shading and community gardens.
This project will target LEED Gold certification or equivalent.
