Kal Tire Head Office

Kal Tire Head Office

Vernon, British Columbia
Canada
Kal-Tire-Head-Office

The Kal Tire Head Office was designed to support the company’s fundamental commitment to the environment and the local community.

This project incorporated LEED principles and sustainable design practices to raise the bar for commercial developments in the Okanagan Valley. Vernon’s highly variable climate conditions and their effect on energy consumption had to be considered in the planning stage of this project.

Introba (formerly Integral Group) was selected to provide energy modeling and mechanical engineering consulting services to this project. The team was actively involved in the early discussion stages of the project regarding the building envelope, skylight design, mechanical system comparisons, and geothermal conversion requirements. As a result, a deep understanding of the project and its vision was reached by Introba. BC Hydro energy modeling services were provided to perfect the HVAC design of the atrium space and to aid in the overall design process.

Key design features of Kal Tire’s head office include heat recovery ventilation, atrium smoke extraction strategy, a water source heat pump, and geothermal planning for future use. Now up and running, the development effectively supplies Kal Tire employees with a contemporary and sustainable workspace.
