Shelley House is an 11-floor commercial office building with 2 levels of basement.
This refurbishment aims to reposition the building, including reducing carbon emissions by implementing a more sustainable energy strategy, installing smart building technology, and reducing the amount of plants on the roof to make space for a terrace and extended office area.
We did a number of studies for the office floor plate solution and reviewed options including chilled beams, radiant panels, or fan coil units. While the chilled beams or radiant ceilings may have been more efficient (both thermally and operationally), the client chose to go with fan coil units as they would offer more flexibility for potential building tenants.
Shelley House when it is completed will be a truly modern building for the modern age. This smart, sustainable, elegant building is also aiming to attain a 2-star Fitwell accreditation, creating a better working environment for occupants and an inspiration for future refurbishment projects.
