MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

In December of 2023, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital opened a new 477,000-square-foot medical and surgical pavilion on Georgetown’s campus that will focus on research, clinical care and medical education. 

The Verstandig Pavilion, located next to Georgetown University Medical Center, provides a high-tech learning environment for nursing and medical students and six acres of park-like green space for community members. 

The pavilion features a new emergency department, state-of-the-art operating rooms that offer specialized surgical visualization and robotic equipment, private patient rooms, and a rooftop helipad with direct access to the emergency and operating rooms.

We served as the Owner’s IT Consultant. In this role, our team is serving as an extension of their facilities and IT groups to provide overall program and project management for the technical equipment and systems. 

These duties included: 

• Technology strategy and visioning 
• IT GAP analysis, design oversight 
• Low voltage design for IT, Security, AV, Nurse Call, RTLS, and DAS
• Procurement management 
• Budget and schedule control 
• Activation oversight 

We also provided medical equipment planning services for this project as well. This service included developing the medical equipment budget, creating the equipment list, producing equipment placement drawings and cut sheets, and construction administration services as well.
