external dome shaped building with decorative glass windows geelong library

Affectionately dubbed ‘The Dome,’ due to its remarkable design by ARM Architects, the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre has become a significant hub for learning and innovation for the City of Greater Geelong.

Introba was appointed as part of the project team to provide expert sustainability design and engineering services for the region’s new $45M Geelong Library and Heritage Centre. The eight-level center set a new benchmark for a facility of its type, providing communications, information, and lifelong learning.

The modern, state-of-the-art library and heritage center’s sustainable design elements were introduced to produce a low-energy building that dealt efficiently with temperature extremes and generated low-carbon electricity and passive performance.

Sustainability was a strong focus for the center. Introba was crucial in the process, working with ARM Architecture to ensure the library achieved a 5-Star Green Star Public Building v1 Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
