Prospect Lake Basecamp
We provided mechanical engineering and energy modeling consulting services for this outdoor education programming center in British Columbia.
Our team was delighted to work on this exciting new headquarters and outdoor education programming center for the Power to Be non-profit organization, on a reclaimed golf course near Prospect Lake.
The project is seeking certification with the Living Building Challenge, requiring net positive energy and net-zero water performance, among other rigorous requirements related to health, well-being, and beauty in design.
The new buildings include an administration office and volunteer center for the organization, an outdoor gear storage hub with a community room and kitchen, and a maintenance systems building that houses the central ground-source heat pump plant and an off-grid water treatment system.
Innovative mechanical features include in-floor radiant heating and cooling, high-performance heat recovery ventilators, and a fully automated building control system. The project also consists of a rooftop solar PV array to meet Net Positive Energy requirements, and on-site well water, treatment, and septic systems to meet Net Zero Water performance.
